IMPORTANT UPDATE (12 July 2016) :
The deadline for this competition has been extended until 23 September 2016. This decision was taken in order to continue to promote this opportunity throughout the summer as part of the Dahl themed Summer Reading Challenge – The Big Friendly Read, which takes place in libraries across Wales. This will also give schools a chance to take part in September whilst celebrating Dahl’s birthday on 13 September.
You are welcome to send any completed entries you have now but if you wanted to add any further entries then you are welcome to do that over the coming months.

The Dahlightful Stories Competition is an official Roald Dahl 100 Wales contest for children attending Primary School (Year 3 to 6) or Secondary School (Year 7 to 13) in Wales.
2016 marks 100 years since the birth of Roald Dahl – the world’s number one storyteller! 2016 is also the Year of Adventure here in Wales! So we are asking children from all over Wales to write their own Dahl inspired adventure stories, then enter them into the Dahlightful Stories Competition by 23 September 2016.
Not only is this a challenging and fun activity the winning stories and shortlist will be published in a book that will be on sale throughout Wales.
The competition will be open for entries from 30 May to 23 September 2016. There is a competition pack available that includes a lesson plan and classroom activity sheets, which makes it easy and fun for your pupils to get started and take part.
