All ideas start with the imagination. Reading inspires the imagination. And imagination inspires the modern world. We hope that this World Book Day resource will help support the development of a love of reading through practical science.
Mark Brake’s Space, Time, Machine, Monster is a hilarious collection of sci-fi facts and astounding science related stories. The book is divided into four sections that are packed with examples of how science fiction has changed the way we see and do things, and the way we dream of things to come.
World Book Day is all about discovering and exploring the fantastic wonders of reading and books. To celebrate, we want you to create a science project based around either ‘space, time, machines or monsters!’
Get your students together to come up with something really fantastic then tell us about it! We want your eureka moment! You can send us pictures, a video or anything really!
You could win some fantastic prizes for your school, so get your thinking caps on! A panel of judges will select a winner and runner-up. Prizes will include a Samsung Galaxy Tablet; a signed copy of Space, Time, Machine, Monster 1&2 and lots of other great booky things!
The closing date for all entries will be 31 March 2016. Noting your name, age and school, send a summary (including pictures or a video) of your completed project to:
